Social Impact

As a sustainable commercial cleaning company, we spend a lot of time considering how our products and services impact the environment and our clients. It is also vital to consider our social impact.

At the end of 2022, we concentrated on improving our social responsibility further.

We joined 1% for the Planet (www.onepercentfortheplanet.org), an organisation that benefits from monthly payments to further its donations to critical environmental causes worldwide. What's great about this particular initiative is that 100% of what we donate goes directly to the causes and the issues on the ground. Meaning we see real social justice and environmental change happen. Better still, our clients indirectly support these donations at no extra cost because the 1% comes directly from our income figures.

We also seek and participate in local initiatives. We live in a great part of the country which needs its fair share of clean-up. So you will find us at beach cleans, park tidies and high street clean-ups.

In 2024, we committed to further local campaigns, namely the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, where we sponsor their seagrass and chalk stream work. The project aims to restore seagrass meadows in the Solent and southern Hampshire, plus the chalk streams, both critical habitats for marine life, including commercially important fish such as bass and bream. By sponsoring this project, we are helping the Trust restore these vital habitats, increase biodiversity, and promote a healthier ecosystem with cleaner water. The project also has the potential to sequester CO2 directly from the atmosphere through the grasses - incredibly important as we battle climate change.

Becoming a Marine Champion means that Eco Drift are supporting the Trust’s vital work in the Solent, including spending time volunteering to collect seeds, plant grasses, and monitor their growth.

We believe that our partnership with the Trust is a valuable way for us to give back to the community and positively impact the environment.

Throughout our journey with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, 1% for the Planet and the other projects we support, we aim to bring you news and updates on the Eco Drift blog.
